THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao extended its lockdown for another seven days after seven of its personnel tested positive for coronavirus, an official said.

PRO-Davao spokesperson Major Eudisan Gultiano confirmed in a press conference that the lockdown was extended for another week after they have continued to record active cases.

“Lockdown in a sense na talagang naga-strict tayo (that we are very strict) but it doesn’t mean na hindi pwede makasulod ang mga sibilyan. Pwede pa rin naman makipag-transact ang mga civilians diria (that we won’t allow civilians to enter the camp. They are allowed to enter for transaction purposes), but very strict tayo sa (we are very strict on the) requirements,” Gultiano said.

The official said all civilian visitors must present a negative result of antigen or reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test taken within 48 hours before they will be allowed to enter the camp.

Gultiano clarified that the personnel who tested positive for coronavirus have no travel history except that they might have been exposed to family members who have Covid-19.

“Per contact tracing, walang travel history itong mga na-interview sa contact tracers. Pero may mga kamag-anak sila na nag-[Covid-19] kaya sila na-infect. Ang history lang ng travel nila is kapag mamalengke (they have no travel history, those who were interviewed by the contact tracers. But they have relatives who have Covid-19 that’s why they get infected. Their travel history is when they go to the public market),” she said.

Majority of them are also asymptomatic and now at the Davao City’s isolation facilities, while others are confined at different hospitals.

Gultiano said they are expecting that they will recover next week.

During the onset of the pandemic, she said PRO-Davao had been conducting lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus within the camp.

“Pero karon, balik ta sa pag-lockdown kay very overwhelmed na para sa amo nga nag-positive nga na-assigned diri sa kampo. Yun ang immediate action taken ng ating regional director [Filmore Escobal] na i-lockdown talaga muna ang camp para limited ang movement ng mga personnel (But now, we resorted to reimposing the lockdown because we have an overwhelming number of personnel designated in the camp who tested positive. That was the immediate action taken by our regional director to impose lockdown in the camp to limit the movement of our personnel) at the same time, para monitored namo kung saan galing yung infection ng mga personnel na na-assigned diri sa kampo (to monitor and determine the source of infection of our personnel assigned in the camp),” Gultiano said.

As of June 3, PRO-Davao has a total number of 499 confirmed Covid-19 cases, of which 74 are active cases, 423 recoveries, and two deaths.
