The Capiz Times was first published in October 1981 by Atty. Antonio and Mrs. Corazon Ortiz and friends—Mrs. Celita Conlu, Mrs. Helen Acolentaba and a group of vigilant Capiceños advocating for their fellow Capiznon.
Conceived in the time of great uncertainty during Martial Law, The Capiz Times was envisioned to be the gauge of how freedom of the press would have suffered oppression had it been totally shut down by the Marcos regime.
Since then, it has evolved to become the active chronicler of the events that would shape the province of Capiz—and continues to be the beacon of free speech in this part of Panay Island.
