ACTING City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery on Friday, June 4, 2021, clarified that the students seen lining up in vaccination sites are actually individuals who will undergo internship in hospitals.
According to Nery, they received a memo from the Department of Health (DOH) stating that interns from nursing and other medical courses will be considered as part of the A1 population and will need to be vaccinated since they will be exposed to the hospital during their internship program.
Nery also apologized for the inconvenience caused by operational glitches at the Limketkai vaccination site on Friday.
“In behalf of the vaccination team of Cagayan de Oro City, ako nagapangayo og pasaylo sa tanan nga na-inconvenience sa kato nga insidente,” Nery said.
She assured the public that the vaccinees scheduled to get their shot of the Covid-19 vaccine will be vaccinated at the end of the day.
The acting city health officer mentioned of some specified vaccinees who received the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine.
These specified groups, according to Nery, are individuals endorsed by the DOH-Northern Mindanao.
“They are endorsed from the Department of Health regional office nato. Naay gipadala nga list of the specified nga mga vaccinees nga gi-endorse sa ato,” Nery said.
“Medyo naay discrepancy sa initial number nga gihatag sa ato from the DOH so we were able to test a certain number para ma-complete ang 1,500 doses of the Sputnik V karong adlawa but then pag-abot sa site, medyo naay nadugang from the DOH and that is according to the report, we need to verify that para ma determine ang gaps,” she added.
Nery reassured that despite the excess in the number of vaccinees, they will be able to give them their dose of Covid-19 vaccines since the City Health Office have buffer vaccines.
As for the adverse effect of the Sputnik V vaccine, Nery said that they have not yet received any reports on people who experienced any adverse reactions.
