THE City Government of Bacolod will file a case against Covid-19 patients who will refuse to be transferred to the city’s quarantine facility.
This was stressed by Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Task Force Extraction cluster head, on Friday, June 4, 2021, after some Covid-19 patients refused to be transferred to the city’s quarantine facility.
Pineda said as of Friday, three Covid-19 patients refused to leave their houses and do not want to be transferred to the city’s quarantine facility.
He said refusing extraction and staying at the positive patient’s residence will cause hazardous exposure of household members, resulting in the spread of Covid-19 infection to more people.
He emphasized that non-cooperation violates Section 9 of the Republic Act 11332, otherwise known as the “Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases.”
“Pertinently, the said law states that non-cooperation of the person or entities identified as having the notifiable disease or affected by the health event of public concern. Non-cooperation of persons and entities that should report and/or respond to notifiable diseases or health events of public concern,” Pineda said.
He said they will seek the assistance of a police station for a blotter report so they can file a case against the patients.
He added they will submit a report to City Legal Office on Monday for the filing of charges against the patients.
Pineda reminded Covid-19 patients to cooperate with the city government to address the Covid-19 cases in the city.
