Business establishments in Bacolod City are requested to comply with and take seriously the minimum health standards issued by the Department of Health, Department of Trade and Industry, and the Department of Labor and Employment.
It has been observed that several establishments in the city do not comply with the guidelines and there are even pharmacies that operate without barriers, face shields or face masks and gloves, Bacolod Councilor Councilor Simplicia Distrito said in a resolution.
She added that there are also establishments that do not take physical distancing seriously, as they do not observe the allowable number of customers to be accommodated inside and social distancing lanes for queueing clients.
The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod that has adopted the resolution requested all business establishments that are allowed to operate in the city to comply with the minimum health standards.
These policies require that employees must be provided by the employer with resources and materials needed to keep them healthy and the workplace safe, the resolution said.
DOH Administrative Order No. 2020-0015 mandates that barriers must be installed to practice physical distancing and as a way to prevent transmission of COVID-19, the resolution added.
Such measures imposed by the guidelines should not be taken for granted because they are among the best ways to reduce or stop the spread of the dreaded disease, it added.*
