The Negros Oriental police will strictly enforce the no backrider policy on Monday, regardless of family relations.
Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office director, P/Col. Arnel Banzon, has ordered all chiefs of police in the cities and towns of the province to strictly enforce the guideline.
The police will also enforce the one passenger per tricycle rule so that proper physical distancing would be religiously observed.
Meanwhile, Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo stressed the need for concerned agencies to properly and diligently coordinate to ensure the safe and orderly return of overseas Filipino workers and locally stranded individuals.
Remollo said with diligent and proper coordination, the receiving local government will be duly informed of the date, time and expected number of returnees so that appropriate transportation and personnel could be deployed.
The quarantine facilities or designated hotels will also be given advance notice to prepare the accommodations, he said.
Remollo said he is willing to accept all returning residents of the city provided they follow the protocols and submit the required documents.
OFWs are required to present negative results of the COVID-19 RT-PCR test and quarantine certificates, while LSIs must present a medical clearance and certification issued by the city or municipal health office that showed that the LSI is neither a contact, suspect, probable or confirmed COVID-19 case; that the LSI completed a 14-day quarantine based on the quarantine standards set by the DOH, or that the LSI confirmed as a COVID-19 case tested negative through RT-PCR twice.*
