ANGELES CITY — “Our frontliners are the new heroes,” said Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr.
The mayor stressed that the frontliners in the fight against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) are the new heroes as Filipinos celebrated the Philippine Independence Friday, June 12.
“Today, I want to salute our employees and those serving the city. They are the industrious and untiring health workers, frontliners and backliners in this time of pandemic because of Covid-19. You are the new heroes of our land,” Lazatin said in Pampango.
He even lauded and thanked the workers’ dedication and sacrifices in the spirit of public service.
“Because of your jobs, you deprived your own family of your time and service to help other people. You did not even complain when we visited our Kabalens for food and medical assistance,” Lazatin said.
The City Government was able to deliver genuine public service to the people because of the employees, according to the mayor.
“Without you, I won’t be able to withstand all of these trials and challenges because of Covid-19. Don’t forget that the true meaning of freedom comes from ourselves,” Lazatin said.
“As we celebrate the Philippines Independence, we honor and salute our past heroes and beloved new heroes,” he added.
