Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – With now 613 active infections, the local government unit (LGU) of Tuguegarao is considering to place the city under “Enhanced Community Quarantine” or ECQ once the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) approves of their recommendation.
The LGU of Tuguegarao City has recently conducted an emergency meeting with all concerned offices to assess the current COVID-19 situation in the area and have decided to pass a recommendation to place the city under ECQ to the RIATF for approval, according to the provincial information office on Monday, August 9.
On Sunday, August 8, Tuguegarao’s City Health Office has reported an alarming 83 new COVID-19 positive cases, 9 new deaths along with only 43 recoveries pushing the active cases to 613.
The cases of COVID-19 continue to increase despite of granular lockdowns placed by Mayor Jefferson Soriano last week in hotspots like barangay Linao.
Previously, Mayor Soriano said last Friday, August 6, that if the numbers of COVID-19 continue to climb by Sunday, August 8, their government unit will have to impose stiffer quarantine classifications. TNF
