Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – With another surge of COVID-19 cases all over the region, the Cagayan Valley Medical Center’s (CVMC) bed occupancy is now almost maxed out.
CVMC Chief Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao said on Monday, August 9, there is now record-high admissions at the hospital at 191, where 154 are active COVID-19 cases while 37 are suspected cases awaiting their test results.
Baggao added that there are also 26 other COVID-19 patients on queue to be admitted at the hospital.
CVMC is situated at the epicenter of COVID-19 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, and is also currently housing severe COVID-19 cases from nearby towns and provinces.
Majority of the cases admitted in the hospital are from Tuguegarao which currently has the most number of active cases in Region 2 at 613 after its City Health Office has reported a staggering 9 new COVID-19 linked deaths, 43 recoveries and 83 positive cases with 3 re-exposures late on Sunday, August 8.
Last Saturday, August 7, the health department has placed Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino under Alert Level 4, after its assessment of rising COVID-19 cases, bed occupancy over 70% and low supply of goods essential vs COVID-19. TNF
