TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – With the controversial dispute between the sitting administration at Cagayan State University (CSU) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the operations of different campuses in the province have been affected, Regional Director Julieta “Jett” Paras said Thursday, Feb 25.
In a press conference, Paras said that some department heads who claimed to support her position as CSU president were harassed and threatened. “Sa nagyayari po ngayon, naapektuhan ngayon ang mga faculty. Sila po ay namememohan at tinatanggal sa designation,” she added.
The regional director also recently said that when she called to convene the faculty of College of Teacher Education (CTED), the faculty were barred in attending the meeting. Paras’ camp claimed that it is already authoritarian and needs immediate action.
“Hindi na po ito laban ng CHED versus CSU. Ito po ay laban ng CHED versus some few individuals,” she said.
On the other camp, President Urdujah Alvarado told The Northern Forum that the allegations that they are not allowing faculty members to attend meeting is falsely said.
“I never had received any invitation coming from Director Paras regarding the meeting of CTED, and if they wish to have, I will allow them,” the president said.
Alvarado also clarified that she did not remove any designated deans in any campus of CSU. She said that if there will be removal, a thorough investigation and complaint should come from the faculty members.
Meanwhile, Alvarado has already taken up the issue of Unifast scholarship grants to the three lower house representatives which is under the General Appropriation Act (GAA) that said to be put on hold because CHED did not sign to release it to the students.
“Kung galit sila sakin bilang tao, wag naman nila idamay ang mga student at yung pera sa para lang gipitin kami at ang mga student,” she added. Alvarado assured the faculty members and students that the troubles will be handled appropriately. TNF
