CEBU, Philippines — The Lapu-Lapu City government is now preparing on its COVID-19 vaccination program as the city has allocated P100 million for the purchase of the vaccines.
The preparation covers from registration, screening, vaccinators, communicators and post monitoring for a smooth implementation of the program.
The priorities of the vaccination will be the frontline health workers, the 28,381 senior citizens; 181,989 indigents, then the uniformed personnel from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection and Philippine Navy.
In preparation for the COVID-19 vaccination action plan, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan had a meeting recently with representatives from the Department of Health 7, City Health Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Legal Office and Public Information Office.
“Akong hangyo sa matag Oponganon nga samtang wala pa ang bakuna mosunod ta sa mga sumbanan nga nalatid sa atong executive order sama sa pagsul-ob sa facemask, pag-obserbar sa social distancing, pagdala og quarantine pass, ug pagsunod sa number coding scheme sa mga sakyanan,” said Chan in his Facebook post.
Once the vaccination will kick-off, the phase one will be done for seven days with the frontline health workers.
For the phase two, it will be done in the mainland barangays and barangay health workers will be tasked to monitor those who were injected with the vaccine for two weeks.
DOH-7 spokesperson Mary Jean Loreche said that she has ongoing meetings to prepare for the vaccination program in Lapu-Lapu City.
She said that the Emergency Operation Center of Cebu City has an active planning with Gen. Mel Feliciano, the deputy chief implementer of IATF-Visayas, while Mandaue City is on the planning stage.
“But soon there will be a general meeting and planning with the various local government units,” said Loreche.
Meanwhile, Department of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said that the agency will ensure that the Philippine energy family will be fully prepared to support and respond to all energy-related concerns once the country embarks on its COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
Cusi said that the DOE will see to it that the entire energy family will be ready to cooperate, collaborate, and actively participate as “backliners” given the major logistical components and details involved.
Cusi added that DOE will be closely coordinating with the concerned government agencies, LGUs, and other related industries to help ensure the success of the national vaccination program.
“We will fully support our healthcare professionals, our local government units and all our frontliners in this endeavor,” Cusi said in a statement.— GMR (FREEMAN)
