BAGUIO City has tightened entry protocols, particularly the return of the testing requirement and the ban on visitors from the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces or the NCR Plus bubble until April 4.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the local government unit’s measure is a move to prevent increase in the number of Covid-19 in the city.

“With regard to the recent issuance of resolution 104 by IATF, we will also make the necessary adjustments. For one, we will be impacted by our tourism industry, which is why we will not accept tourists coming from NCR, and some parts of Region 3 and Region 4,” Magalong said.

Based on the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Resolution 104 dated March 20, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal Province were placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) from March 22 to April 4.

“That comprises about almost 70 percent of our visitors wherein we will be expecting a downtrend of our visitors especially during this Holy Week, and that’s one way of controlling mobility. Our incidents (Covid-19) here in Baguio went up by 100 percent, we just had our active community testing for four days at 2,641 persons availed of the tests and the number of positive cases is 30 out of 2,641 which reflects about 1.2 percent,” the city’s chief executive stated.

The resolution recommends Baguio City’s leisure establishments to advice their guests with pre-approved travels to the city to reschedule their travel or if not, in the interest of goodwill, refund deposits of cancelled bookings.
