BAGUIO City is supporting the Teacher Education Council Act, which aims to provide quality education for all, an official said.

On the move of Councilor Vladimir Cayabas, a resolution of support has been sent to the Senate backing the proposed Teacher Education Council Act.

“This pandemic has unexpectedly exposed teachers and school leaders with new normal challenges that need new normal skills, competencies, mindsets, approaches and innovative policies. This is to ensure supposedly recipients of quality education shall not be changed and be fully prepared to grow as self-reliant citizens,” Cayabas said.

The national measure’s objective is to ensure the coherence and continuity between pre-service and in-service education, guarantee that the professional standards for teachers and school leaders are applied fairly and consistently, and undertake extensive research directed at teacher and school leader quality, all in furtherance of learning continuity.

Under the 1987 Philippine Constitution, utmost regard is given to quality education with its declaration that the State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels and shall take appropriate steps to make such education is accessible to all.
