THE municipality of Candaba has not reported a new case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) for over two months now.
According to Mayor Rene Maglanque, the last confirmed case of Covid-19 in town was reported on April 2, but has already succumbed to the disease a few days after.
All of the families and individuals who had close contact with the patient were already cleared from the virus after undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine, the mayor said.
As of Monday afternoon, June 22, the municipality only has two suspect cases from Barangay Bahay Pare. Their test results are still pending.
Maglanque said the municipal inter-agency task force continues to carry out measures that are aimed at protecting the people from the deadly virus.
“We have ordered the testing of all employees in the business establishments in town, especially those who are not from the municipality to ensure that they are not carrier of the virus,” he said.
He added that locally stranded individuals and beneficiaries of the “Balik Probinsya” program undergo interview and rapid testing, if needed, before allowing them entry into the town.
“Although we are in modified general community quarantine and movement restrictions are relaxed, we sustain the implementation of all protocols to prevent the entry and spread of Covid-19 in our municipality,” Maglanque said.
The mayor also urged his constituents to continue observing Covid-19 related rules such as mandatory wearing of face masks, social distancing and good hygiene to safeguard themselves from the virus.
“We cannot win this battle if you do not do your part. So please follow the safety protocols so that we can all defeat Covid-19,” he said.
