THE Department of Health (DOH)-Siquijor and Siquijor Provincial Task Force Covid-19 reported four new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Monday, February 8, bringing the province’s total confirmed cases to 44.
The patients were identified as:
* Patient 41 — Overseas Filipino worker (OFW), male, 43, a resident of Larena town. He arrived in Siquijor last January 29, 2021.
* Patient 42 — Female, 25, a returning resident of Larena from Dumaguete City. She arrived last January 28, 2021.
* Patient 43 and 44 — Direct contacts of Patient 35. They underwent a swab test last February 4, 2021 and the results came out Monday, February 8.
Both Patients 41 and 42 were swabbed last February 4 and the results came out Monday.
The Provincial Government of Siquijor said in a Facebook post that “intensive contact tracing” is ongoing to prevent, trace, isolate and
limit the transmission of Covid-19 in Larena.
“The Siquijor Provincial Task Force Covid-19 and DOH Siquijor Province still declared a community transmission considering the fact that the index case — Patient 35 — has not yet been resolved on where she possibly got the virus,” it added.
Siquijor has been placed under modified general community quarantine. (LMY)
