BAGUIO City residents who have registered under the “Baguio in My Pocket” (Bimp) app will be included in the database of those who wish to get vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Dr. Donnabel Tubera-Panes of the Baguio City Heath Services Office (CHSO) said this is the best system to implement in the city in determining the rollout of government acquired vaccines based on the Department of Health’s (DOH) electronic immunization registry.

“This is the best thing that we can do, which is why our city’s information technology personnel are now discussing with those in charge with the electronics data gathering of the DOH for the migration of files and data sets needed,” Panes said.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong earlier said that those who registered with the Bimp app will soon be migrated with the CHSO data for those wanting to get the vaccine.

The City Government is currently looking for an ideal site for the cold chain freezers where the vaccines will be stored.

Meanwhile, Tubera said the level of Covid-19 risk for residents is currently decreasing.

“There are many factors that we have to consider when it comes to the level of risk here in the city. More than just the number of cases, we are also looking at how many will become sick that have similar symptoms with Covid-19 but we don’t test everyone every day. There are other multi – source surveillance that we do that would help us determine oh how the spreading is and based on our statistics and based on the number of cases that we saw in the last days, there is a decrease,” Panes said.

Panes said health experts said there is a need for the city to see the decrease in a span of 14 days for the city to determine if it is significant.

“We recently conducted an aggressive community testing at Melvin Jones and what we are seeing through the positivity rate wherein what is accepted is less than five percent of transmission and we are seeing a decrease. We hope that we can sustain this with the general community quarantine so that we can limit the movement of people as well who should continue to adhere to the minimum health protocol that will help contribute in bringing our cases down,” Panes added.
