NORTHERN Mindanao Medical Center’s (NMMC) new molecular laboratory will soon be able to process swab tests as it passed the proficiency test conducted by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), the hospital’s liaison officer Dr. Bernard Rocha said Monday, February 8, 2021.
“Nakuha na namo ang certification gikan sa RITM regarding sa among proficiency test na we passed,” Rocha said.
“So in the next few days, we will be getting ready our LTO (license to operate) kay nakapasar naman gyud mi sa among proficiency test,” he added.
With the lab’s five reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines, the liaison officer said they can process 600 swab samples on two shifts in a day.
“Now, we are still analyzing kung pwede namo i-third shift pero nakulangan man mi og staff for the third shift but for the two shifts, kaya namo ang 600 per day,” Rocha said.
He said they hope to start Covid-19 testing using the new molecular laboratory this week.
