The 32 local government units of Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, received P2,817,696,000 in subsidy from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, as part of the government’s Social Amelioration Package, amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
Under the program, qualified families will receive P6,000 in financial assistance each. There are 371,473 beneficiary families in Negros Occidental.
Ma. Evelyn Macapobre, director of DSWD in Western Visayas, said a total of P5.072 billion was already released to the 80 LGUs in the region, as of Monday night.
For Negros Occidental, the bulk of the allocation went to Bacolod with P588,858,000, followed by Bago City – P170,658,000, Kabankalan City – P160,248,000, Cadiz City – P143,376,000, Sagay City – P127,752,000, Silay City – P120,714,000, and San Carlos City with P115,488,000 in subsidy.
Other LGUs in the province that received the financial support are Talisay City with P95,910,00, Himamaylan City – P90,570,000, Escalante City – P84,198,000, Cauayan – P82,992,000, Hinigaran – P80,952,000, Victorias City – P75,078,000, La Castellana – P71,082,000, Murcia – P69,774,000, La Carlota City – P64,404,000, Binalbagan – P63,546,000, and Calatrava with P63,294,000.
Also getting the allocation are E.B. Magalona with P54,984,000, Isabela – P54,174,000, Sipalay City – P53,202,000, Manapla – P50,484,000, Pontevedra – P50,028,000, Ilog – P49,602,000, Hinoba-an with P46,680,000, and Valladolid – P38,142,000.
The town of Toboso was allocated P33,396,000, Moises Padilla – P32,112,000, Pulupandan – P27,510,000, San Enrique – P23,688,000, Candoni with P17,682,000, and Salvador Benedicto at P17,118,000.
The allocation for Talisay City is expected to be released today.
Macapobre said the financial assistance will help mitigate the socio-economic impact of the Covid-19 crisis and the enhanced community quarantine to target beneficiaries.*
