TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Due to the pandemic, the Department of Education (DepEd) has turned the mode of learning into a modular approach which some reported to have erroneous content.
In a virtual press briefing, Secretary Leonor Briones said that there were reports indicating errors to printed and distributed modules. “If it is wrong, we take responsibility, but if it is wrong, the parent should report the errors so that we could take immediate actions,” she said.
Moreover, some contents in the module were raised to have discriminatory and sensitive content to cultures and sectors. With the reports, the DepEd has already launched efforts to deal with the errors in the modules, including the ‘Error Watch’ and online platforms to answer the problems and issues.
The Error Watch initiative is the department’s response to numerous reports about errors found in the learning materials. Its task is to receive and collate reports of errors and to forward these to the appropriate offices for validation and correction.
Meanwhile, the secretary also pointed out some issues on the effect of indoor learning due to the pandemic. “I know that our children are affected of the situation, but we cannot just sit and wait for the face-to-face to continue learning. We should at least do something to lessen the burden,” Briones added. Lastly, she said to keep engaging with their children regarding the modules to extend some help since the parents are the teachers right now. She added that the
“Error Watch” initiative is the process platform to address the issues and concerns on the contents of the modules instead of posting them on social media.
The concerns maybe reported through email by sending it to [email protected]; via text and viber message through 09616805334; through Facebook Messenger: DepEd Error Watch (@depederrorwatch), and through Workchat DepEd Error Watch. TNF
