DAVAO CITY — All 60 police stations in Davao Region have already set up their respective help desks to facilitate the return of locally stranded individuals (LISs) and overseas Filipinos after being locked down due to community quarantine.
This after Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Archie Gamboa directed all police stations nationwide to establish help desks to expedite the process of applications for travel authorities to allow LSIs and overseas Filipinos to return to their hometowns.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 spokesperson Eudisan Gultiano told the Mirror that these help desks have already been set up in the police stations in every city and municipality across the region since Monday.
Gultiano said these help desks have been tasked to process the travel authority which also include coordination with Local Government Units (LGUs) of the intended destination of the LSIs as well as return of overseas Filipinos (ROFs).
Based on the guidelines set by the National Task Force Against COVID-19, LSIs and ROFs must get a medical certificate from the municipal or city health office certifying that the person is neither a contact, suspect, probable, or confirmed COVID-19 case, and has completed the 14-day quarantine.
She said after securing a medical certificate from the LGU, stranded individuals can apply for a travel authority to PNP help desks before they would be allowed to travel.
Gultiano said the chief of police (COP) will sign travel authorities for travel from one barangay to another barangay within the same municipality.
She said police personnel have also been directed to assist LGUs in facilitating the return of repatriated OFWs to their respective provinces.
“We will also be using our patrol cars to ferry these repatriated OFWs back to their hometowns,” she said.
