CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) has paid a total of P7.6 billion for claims from different health care institutions in Central Visayas.
Of the total amount, P366 million was paid for COVID-19 in-patient coverage from last year up to May 27, 2021.
Philhealth-7 information officer Dina Sinchez said that the breakdown of the P366 million, P345.5 million went to Cebu hospitals, P14 million in Bohol, P6.7 million in Negros Oriental and none in Siquijor.
Nationwide, Philhealth has paid a total of P25.38 billion in claims of which P4.88 billion are for COVID-19 related claims from last year up to May 17, 2021.
The Department of Health-7 COVID-19 data showed that as of May 28, 2021, Central Visayas has a total of 61,327 cases with 55,574 recoveries; 3,639 active cases and 2,114 deaths.
Vaccinated
Meanwhile, DOH-7 spokesperson and chief pathologist, Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, said that as of May 27, 2021, a total of 249,293 doses, both first and second dose, of COVID-19 vaccines were already administered to individuals in Central Visayas.
The region has a total of 6,566,086 eligible population for COVID-19 vaccination, of which 5,171,624 are in Cebu as of May 26, 2021.
Of the 249,293 doses administered in Central Visayas, 163,445 doses in Cebu; 55,128 in Bohol; 21,096 in Negros Oriental; and 9,624 in Siquijor.
DOH-7 has allocated 448,510 doses to these four provinces and so far it has a remaining 199,217 doses due for vaccination at the 262 vaccination sites in the region.
Loreche added that as of May 27, 2021, a total of 100,803 out of the 131,781 healthcare workers in Central Visayas were inoculated for the first dose while 57,792 healthcare workers were already vaccinated with the second dose.
Data further showed that 54,926 senior citizens were already vaccinated for the first dose out of the 548,444 eligible populations for this priority group in Central Visayas. A total of 8,523 of them were also inoculated already for the second dose.
For the 120,566 eligible populations for persons with comorbidities priority group, 23,506 and 2,007 were inoculated for the first and second dose, respectively.
As of May 18, 2021, DOH-7 has received a total of 449,010 doses of vaccines of which, 257,760 doses of Sinovac, 162,000 doses of AstraZeneca and 29,250 doses of Pfizer.
Loreche said that a total of 12,612 individuals were inoculated with the first dose through the Project Balik Buhay as of May 27, 2021.
Data showed that of the 12,612 individuals, 954 are healthcare workers, 3,020 are senior citizens and 8,638 persons with comorbidities.
While 3,031 individuals were also inoculated for the second dose under PBB.
The PBB vaccination initiative is part of the national government vaccination program for the employed or corporate sector in Cebu.
PBB is a public-private partnership upon the request of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, IATF-Visayas and DOH-7 to help augment the capacity of the government vaccination centers. — GMR (FREEMAN)
