COMPENSATION is being offered to owners of 180 illegally erected structures within Camp Dangwa, according to Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera Director Brigadier General R’win Pagkalinawan.
Pagkalinawan said letters were already sent to settlers residing inside the police camp, informing them of a 60-day warning to vacate the premises identified and accounted by PRO-Cordillera before they are evicted.
“We are buying their structures as compensation for them to find a place where they can transfer. The Sitio Dangwa is part of camp development plan enhancement capability,” Pagkalinawan said.
He said the compensation will depend on the kind of structure that will then be converted into offices of the different departments of PRO-Cordillera.
PRO-Cordillera is currently conducting negotiation with the inhabitants of the erected structures.
Pagkalinawan said those illegally settling within the identified lots inside Camp Dangwa are given the opportunity to discuss with the PRO’s housing board for other arrangements that can be undertaken aside from the payment for their structures.
Based on the accounting of PRO-Cordillera, most of the inhabitants within the 180 lots have been residing since the 1970s and 1980s. Most of them are relatives of former Camp Dangwa employees.
