Mayor Romeo Salda on Monday, May 18, reiterated to residents to stay at home after several individuals flocked to the municipal hall seeking a travel with a number of returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
However, the local government said the Philippine National Police is tasked to release travel authority permits to OFWs and locally stranded individuals based on the new memorandum from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
With the majority of the residents going out on Monday, the chief executive added the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) assisted in traffic flow and asked individuals to follow the window period provided in every barangay.
Starting May 18, the market period for barangays Pico and Bineng is set every Monday; Balili and Alno every Tuesday; Barangays Beckel, Cruz and Poblacion every Wednesday; Alapang, Shilan and Tawang every Thursday.
Market day for Barangays Bahong, Puguis, and Wangal are slated every Friday while Barangays Ambiong, Betag and Lubas are every Saturday.
The official reminds the assigned person per household to bring and present their valid quarantine passes.
Salda, meanwhile, stated workers within Baguio – Itogon – Sablan – Tuba – Tublay entering the municipality must present documentary requirements including their company ID.
He said the local government unit during the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force also requested for Benguet Provincial Police Office to continue checkpoints and assist in traffic management for the smooth flow of vehicles.
In Tuba, local police headed by Major Dominador De Guzman Jr. disclosed heavy traffic along Marcos Highway on Monday, the third day since the GCQ was declared.
The police officer added the majority of the vehicles plying the national road are cargo trucks.
Baguio City, Benguet Province, and the rest of the Cordillera region shifted to GCQ May 16.
Meanwhile, Governor Melchor Diclas recently disclosed under GCQ, there is still a restriction of movement of residents.
“Movement of residents of the province shall be limited to accessing essential goods and services, and for work in the offices of industries permitted to operate,” the recent executive order added.
As of 12 noon of May 18, The Department of Health in Cordillera said Benguet has a total of 10 Covid-19 confirmed cases with five currently admitted.
