With this, Mayor Romy Pecson urged his constituents to prepare to prevent being infected as the highly transmissible Omicron variant has entered the country.
“Pinapaalala ng local na pamahalaan na patuloy na mag ingat at sundin ang minimum health and safety protocols lalo na sa banta ng Omicron variant,” Pecson said.
The mayor also appealed to residents to get vaccinated to get extra protection against the virus.
“Pinapahalalaanan ko din po ang lahat na huwag maabahala sa Omicron variant dahil ginagawa po ng ating pamahalaang lokal ang lahat ng makakaya upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng virus,” Pecson said.
“Nakakatulong ang pagbabakuna at pagsunod sa mga health protocols upang maprotektahan tayong lahat laban sa virus,” he added.
The municipal government recorded a total of 1,710 cases since the pandemic started in March 2020.
Some 110 residents are believed to have died from Covid-19.
The local government stated that 1,599 patients recovered from coronavirus.
