This brought the total number of active cases in Pampanga to 440. At least 31 of the new active cases were from Angeles City, while 111 were from different cities and towns of the province.
In the City of San Fernando alone, some 48 new cases have been recorded on Wednesday. Total active cases in the city have reached some 105. Twenty-four of the capital city’s barangays have registered active coronavirus cases.
Magalang town also reported one coronavirus case on January 5 after more than two weeks of zero virus incidence. Bacolor town had recorded its first coronavirus case for 2022 on January 3, with one case from Barangay San Vicente.
Seven new active cases were also recorded in Santa Rita town on January 5 from Barangays San Matias and Diladila.
The town currently has nine active cases.
Mexico town also reported eight new cases on January 4 from six different barangays.
In Apalit town, five new coronavirus cases have been recorded, bringing the town’s active cases to nine. At least five barangays of the town have reported active cases.
Total confirmed cases in the province now stand at 69,367 since the start of the pandemic. Some 67,185 of these confirmed cases have long since recovered.
Deaths from the virus since the start of the pandemic stood at 1,742 cases. (With a report from Princess Clea Arcellaz)
