COUNCILOR Kenneth Nunag of Apalit town, Pampanga has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the public official announced over the weekend.
Nunag said he underwent swab testing on Friday, February 5, 2021, after experiencing Covid-19 symptoms. The results came back positive on Saturday morning.
He said he immediately put himself into self-quarantine when he felt the symptoms but advised those who had interaction with him in the past week to undergo isolation and immediately report to health centers if symptoms show.
In his video message, the councilor also asked for prayers as he recovers from the symptoms and eventually from the virus.
Meanwhile, local officials including Mayor Oscar “Jun” Tetangco Jr., Vice Mayor Peter Nucom, other councilors and staff of their offices are also under quarantine while awaiting test results.
The office of the mayor, vice mayor and Sangguniang Bayan is also under skeletal workforce until Tuesday, said Tetangco.
Nunag is the fourth public official in Pampanga who were known to have contracted the coronavirus after Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque, City of San Fernando Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and Mabalacat City Vice Mayor Geld Aquino.
