SEVERAL schools in Magalang town, Pampanga have aired their support to Mayor Romy Pecson’s call for academic breakdown or appeal for “mental and academic ease.”

The mayor asked public and private schools in the municipality to suspend asynchronous and synchronous classes, as well as the submission of academic requirements for November 16 to 20.

Pecson said the period will help students, including their families and teachers, recover from the effects of the recent typhoon that hit the province and other parts of Luzon island.

“The undersigned humbly perceives that this period will help not just our students and our faculty but also their families as well to recover from the effects of the recent onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses and give them ample time and space to recuperate from the challenges these trying times pose to their mental health,” the local chief executive said in his request.

Pecson thanked the Pampanga State Agricultural College, Magalang Christian Ecumenical School, Inc., Magalang Institute Corporation and other schools that expressed support to his appeal.

Public Schools Division Supervisors Lucrecia M. Dizon (Magalang North) and Emily R. Maninang (Magalang South) expressed support for Pecson’s “mental and academic ease.”

During their visit to the mayor’s office on Tuesday, November 18, 2020, the two supervisors presented to Pecson a leadership citation award coming from the Department of Education (DepEd).

The mayor was cited for his support of the Basic Education-Learning Continuity Plan and the Distance Learning Program of DepEd.
