SOME P6 million worth of support and donations have been given to frontliners by the Department of Education (DepEd) personnel since the start of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The consolidated report from 13 schools divisions offices in Central Luzon showed that as of April 15, there were 20,243 pieces of face masks, 4,587 face shields, and 293 protective suits fabricated by both teaching and non-teaching personnel and distributed to frontliners and medical staff in the various cities and municipalities across the region.
On the other hand, the total amount of food donations and relief packs have reached P5,948,965.50, which were also given as meals and snacks for frontliners and relief goods for the affected families in their respective areas.
Not only can teachers and non-teaching staff contribute by donating goods and serving at the frontlines during these times of uncertainty and panic but giving their own share through art and creativity is also needed to help disseminate the valuable information to the general public.
Teacher Noelyne Joyosa of Agusuhin Elementary in Subic, Zambales created a storybook titled “Kakaibang Araw” which is inspired by our frontliners’ lives and the changes their family needs to face while the suppression of Covid-19. Additionally, Teacher Jojit Elemento of Bamban National High School in Masinloc, Zambales came up with his “Ten COVIDments” that serve as useful reminders on how to cope during the enhanced community quarantine.
As a tribute to all frontliners, Teacher Jaybee Basilio of Teodoro P. Tinio Elementary School in Angeles City, Pampanga composed this song titled “Laban Pinoy, Iisang Puso.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Yanga’s College Inc. Robotics Head Coach Beryl Cruz, with the support of DYCI President Michael Yanga in cooperation with Mylene Abiva (FELTA Multi-Media Inc.), conceptualized the automated robot alcohol dispensers for use by the public in Bocaue, Bulacan and Malolos, Bulacan. JBLMRH’s diagnostic molecular pathology laboratory is a grant from the Asian Development Bank, according to Dr. Monserrat Chichioco, JBLMRH medical director.
