ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin said the local government has started its mass testing to identify the people who are positive carriers of the Sars-CoV-2, the pathogen that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Frontliners including health workers of the city were prioritized in the testing, according to the mayor, adding “We will prioritize our frontliners and health workers because they are the ones exposed to people who are possible suffering from Covid-19.”
After the frontliners, the city government will proceed to the testing of probable and suspected Covid-19 patients, Lazatin said.
The city has recorded 11 positive cases of Covid-19 as of April 27, 2020.
The local chief executive at the same time bared that the city government has appropriated some P7 million for the acquisition of infant formula to support toddlers belonging to the poor families.
“Some 32,000 children with ages 2 to 6 will be provided with milk which will add up to their supplies,” Lazatin said in Pampango.
“We already started the distribution of the milk which will be given to 32,000 kids and the city government allotted P7 million for this program,” the mayor added.
Barangay nutrition scholars and population workers conducted a house to house survey to determine what type of milk will be purchased.
Lazatin also mentioned that the distribution of food packs will continue until the quarantine is lifted to support the people.
At present, city hall workers are preparing 150,000 food packages for the next distribution scheduled this week, the mayor said.
“Lahat po ng pamilya na naninirahan dito sa Angeles ay mabibigyan. Hintayin niyo lamang po na aming ihatid sa inyong mga bahay,” he added.
