Vaccination Cluster Head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte bared in a radio interview that the vaccination of the second booster will now be allowed even to those with no comorbidities.
“Pwede na sila basta nakalampas na siya og three to four months gikan sa iyang first booster (They can already receive the second booster dose for as long as they received their first booster three to four months after),” Villafuerte said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.
The Department of Health, through the National Vaccination Operations Center, has earlier released a memorandum No. 2022-0206, outlining the interim operational guidelines on the administration of the second booster dose for the elderly and healthcare workers.
The vaccination head has not provided concrete data, but he said many senior citizens and health workers had already got their second booster.
Villafuerte said the rollout of the primary doses based on the individuals of the total population to receive the second dose already reached 86 percent, which is exceeding the 70 percent target herd immunity.
In terms of the pediatric vaccination for 12 to 17 years old, the city noted 75 percent turnout out of the 250,000 estimated population. However, the five to 11 years old population is lower with only six percent out of the 260,000.
The health official said they are intensifying the vaccination rollout as it is now accessible in all malls, People’s Park, and Crocodile Park in the city.
Davao City remains under Alert Level 1 due to the continuing increasing number of vaccinated population, she said. (RGL)
