THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will ask the Cebu City government to give notices to the bars and clubs in Mango Avenue that do not observe the minimum health protocols required under Alert Level 2.
During the “Oplan Bulabog” roving patrol conducted by the authorities on Friday and Saturday, March 5-6, 2022, the CCPO observed that the people were crowding in Mango Avenue and it seems that they were no longer afraid of the virus.
Despite the executive order issued by Mayor Michael Rama allowing the serving of liquor with no time limit after the curfew hours had been lifted, drinking establishments are still required to limit the number of customers to avoid the spread of Covid-19 virus.
Under alert level 2, karaoke bars, clubs and other drinking establishments are allowed to operate at 50 percent indoor capacity and 70 percent outdoor capacity for fully vaccinated customers.
The employees of these establishments have to be vaccinated as well.
Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of CCPO, said the Abellana police station 2 had already listed those who violated the order.
The list will be forwarded to the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) headed by Councilor Joel Garganera for the latter to decide on the matter.
“They will monitor and document the establishments that violate, for now only the violation of the establishments is more on the capacity because we do not have a curfew,” said Parilla.
Parilla added that due to the increasing number of people coming out and entering the bars during the night, the police can only suggest to the EOC to give an ultimatum to the erring establishments.
“Just like what we did before wherein the EOC will give an ultimatum to the erring establishments so the next time they violate they would be subjected to disciplinary action or have their business permits suspended by the Business Permit and Licensing Office,” added Parilla.
“We once again inform the public that even though the alert level in Cebu City has been downgraded, the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is still around,” Parilla said.
Amid the downgrade of alert level, the CCPO will still enforce the wearing of face masks and social distancing. (AYB, TPT)
