THE positivity rate for Covid-19 in Cebu City has continued to drop for the second straight day.
This after Cebu City logged a 1.75 percent positivity rate on Monday, March 7, 2022, a decrease from the 2.14 percent positivity rate recorded last Sunday, March 6.
Monday’s positivity rate came from seven of 400 individuals tested whose results came out positive for the coronavirus disease, according to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) data released on Tuesday, March 8.
This positivity rate is the nearest to the lowest positivity rate recorded in Cebu City so far this year: 0.61 percent on last January 1.
Cebu City’s positivity rate had been below the five percent threshold set by the World Health Organization in the past 12 days.
The positivity rate is the percentage of all coronavirus tests performed that come out positive; if it is below five percent for two weeks, WHO said it indicates that Covid-19 infections are under control.
Cebu City saw its record-high 56.62 percent positivity rate last January 21.

As for the active cases, the EOC reported 174 on Monday, March 7, a further decline from 184 active cases on Sunday, March 6.
The EOC logged 7,663 active cases last January 27, the highest since the pandemic began in the city in March 2020.
The EOC also reported 14 recoveries and two new deaths on Monday, bringing the total number of fatalities to four this month.
Since March 2020, Cebu City has logged a total of 54,774 cases with 52,920 recoveries and 1,679 deaths. (KAL)
