Remains of 4 fallen soldiers of ill-fated C-130 plane arrive in Oro

FOUR soldiers who perished in the C-130 crash in Patikul, Sulu arrived at the former Cagayan de Oro airport in Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City on Friday afternoon, August 20, 2021.

They were brought to the St. Ignatius de Loyola Chapel in 4ID Camp Evangelista, Patag, this city.

The soldiers were identified as:

– Private Erwin Canton from Poblacion Sibagat, Agusan del Sur

– Private Jhun Capagngan from Poblacion, Mahinog, Camiguin

– Private Mansueto Linagtong from Cambuayon, Bacuag Surigao del Norte

– Private Michael Dalore from Barangay Sto Nino, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur

A mass was offered to the said fallen soldiers at the 4ID Chapel and a ceremonial sendoff was conducted afterward.

Other Philippine Army personnel who were identified by the Scene of the Crime Operative Crime Lab-Zamboanga Peninsula:

– Corporal Dexter Estrada from Paloyon, Nabua Camarines Sur

– Corporal Gulam Ismael from Asturias, Jolo, Sulu

– Private First Class Benjie Malanog from Tabuan, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur

– Private Mansueto Linagtong from Cambuayon, Bacuag Surigao del Norte

– Corporal Reynel Matundin from Katidtuan Kabacan, North Cotabato

They were released for transport to places of residence.

At present, 38 Army personnel and 12 Air Force personnel out of the 96 total passengers who died from the C-130 plane crash have been identified and accounted for.

Major General Romeo Brawner Jr., 4ID commander, assured the families of the fallen soldiers that the 4ID will continuously extend needed assistance in the processing of respective benefits and claims of the beneficiaries.

“We are sincerely grateful to the families for their patience and understanding for this challenging process. We are sincerely grateful for the sacrifice and service of our fallen heroes. May their soul rest in peace,” Brawner said.

“The outpouring of support and the heartwarming messages from different stakeholders have sustained the high spirit of our troops. As we get past this tragic chapter of our organization, we assure everyone that we are more motivated and committed in our quest for peace and development,” he added.
