THE Department of Health (DOH)-Northern Mindanao has lauded the local government unit of Cagayan de Oro for its efforts to increase its response capacity to fight against the novel coronavirus.

“I’m saying this objectively, naningkamot ang atong partners diha sa City Health Office ug hindi lang yon pati na ang member sa civil society and the private sectors,” DOH Regional Director Dr. Adriano Suba-an said on Tuesday, October 27.

Suba-an was also impressed by the collaboration between the JR Borja General Hospital, the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and the private hospitals, as the latter helped decongest NMMC by accepting patients with mild and moderate symptoms and those who are asymptomatic. This is for the NMMC to prioritize patients with severe to critical Covid-19 cases.

“For the DOH, naa dinha ang atong one hospital command center para ang mga referral sa mga pasyente kung asa sya ipadala kung mapuno na ang NMMC, asa i-refer, or katong mga pasyente gikan sa private hospital,” Suba-an said.

“We are trying to increase the number of isolation beds by helping each other as well as the laboratory. In fact, of the six laboratories that we have, five naa diri sa syudad sa city to increase our testing capacity,” he added.

Cagayan de Oro City, as of October 26, has 51 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,531.

The city has 515 active cases, 22 of whom are admitted at the NMMC, 479 are outpatients, and 14 are returning overseas Filipinos/locally stranded individuals.

The total Covid-19 recoveries is now at 949 and the number of deaths is at 67.
