After attending the mass in Silay City, Lacson will then join the campaign of Escalante City reelectionist Mayor Melecio Yap Jr., incumbent First District Representative Gerardo Valmayor, and reelectionist Board Members Romel Debulgado and Araceli Somosa, also of the First District.
The governor received several invitations from candidates in other cities and towns for them to join their respective sorties.
Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer will split during the campaign so that they would be able to reach many places in the province.
The latter will launch his opening salvo in his hometown in La Carlota City also on Friday.
“It’s going to be an exciting 45 days and we are hoping to maintain peace and order,” Lacson said, as he urged local government units (LGUs) to behave to maintain peace and order at the start of the campaign.
Admitting that it’s difficult to maintain social distancing during campaign sorties, Lacson reminded the public to wear masks to protect themselves.*
