THE police chiefs of EB Magalona and La Carlota City became the latest Covid-19 cases for the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo).
In a press conference held Tuesday, October 13, Nocppo Director Police Colonel Romy Palgue confirmed that EB Magalona police chief, Police Captain Wilfredo Benoman, and La Carlota City police chief Jonel Guadalupe have tested positive for the virus.
Palgue said the deputies of the respective police stations have temporarily taken over as officer-in-charge while the two police chiefs are placed on quarantine.
He added that 20 staff from the EB Magalona police station have undergone swab testing and have also been placed on quarantine.
In the meantime, Palgue sent units from Nocppo’s mobile force company to oversee the security in the town.
Aside from the police chief, Palgue also confirmed that one of Nocppo’s non-uniformed personnel has also tested positive for Covid-19.
In all, Nocppo has a total of 26 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 14 recoveries.
