BACOLOD City Representative Greg Gasataya has asked the Department of Health (DOH) to prioritize the expansion of bed capacity at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).
Gasataya said Bacolod City has been placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) because of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the city and the private hospitals already reached full bed capacity for Covid-19 patients.
He said DOH Undersecretary Mario Villaverde vowed to find more funds to expand bed capacity at CLMMRH.
“He assured us that they will find more funds to expand CLMMRH bed capacity and they are planning to upgrade the hospital’s facility since it’s a government referral hospital to accommodate the patients in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental,” he added.
Gasataya noted the funds will be taken from Bayanihan Act 2.
Last month, additional 80 hospital beds, both from private and public hospitals in Bacolod City, were added to accommodate the Covid-19 patients in the city.
Gasataya also earlier authored Republic Act 11441 an act increasing the bed capacity of CLMMRH from 400 beds to 1,000 beds, authorizing the increase of its personnel, and appropriating funds thereof.
