AS CORONAVIRUS remains a health risk to many, the Office Negros Occidental Fifth District Representative Ma. Lourdes “Marilou” Arroyo provided their residents access to the Covid-19 assistance under the Aid to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
There were 2,575 beneficiaries all over the Fifth District.
The beneficiaries comprised of 400 residents from 30 barangays in the town of Isabela, 375 from 24 barangays in the town of Hinigaran, 350 from 16 barangays in the town of Binalbagan, 350 from 19 barangays in the City of Himamaylan and 350 from 13 barangays in the town of La Castellana who each received an amount of P2,000.
Seven hundred fifty beneficiaries from 15 barangays in Moises Padilla received P1,000 each.
Arroyo in a press statement hoped that the assistance can help the families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The past months have been a difficult time for everyone. A lot of people have lost their jobs and other sources of income; they have lost their way of providing food for their families. Some people have even lost their loved ones to this pandemic. While many locally stranded individuals have yet to get home to their families. I know it hasn’t been easy but I hope that this assistance, though it may be a small amount will be able to help you in some way,” Arroyo said.
Eligible beneficiaries who were identified by their barangay captains are those who did not receive assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Social Amelioration Program (SAP), Department of Labor and Employment Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (DOLE Tupad), Department of Agriculture (DA) and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Since the start of the implementation of community quarantine to combat Covid-19, Arroyo has been providing assistance to her district such as giving food packs, personal protective equipment (PPEs) and financial assistance.
