THE Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI), operator of Ceres Liner, has appealed to the local officials and personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental to deploy enforcement unit at terminals to assist the management in the dispatching of passengers in their respective areas.
The bus firm, in a statement Monday, May 18, said this was taken into consideration when the influx of passengers came to terminals without wearing face masks and not observing social distancing.
Most of the passengers ignored strict safety protocols in all company-owned terminals all over Negros Occidental just to catch a ride to go to work, it said, adding that all these safety protocols were not followed by the passengers.
The VTI started the resumption of trips of its Ceres buses in Negros Occidental including Bacolod City on Monday, May 18.
The company, however, lamented as passengers “were more eager to get a ride than thinking of their own safety. Yesterday’s incident is a cause for alarm.”
The VTI said the progress that it made in the last two months will just go to waste thus, they would like to appeal to the passengers to think of their own safety.
“Your safety is our utmost concern and your family as well. We are in this together. We are bigger than coronavirus disease (Covid-19),” it said, adding that “together, we will combat the pandemic.”
