ORMOC CITY – This city’s Isolation Facility for possible COVID-19 patients, situated in Brgy. San Pablo, is now ready to operate. It is set to open on Monday, March 30; and will be run by the City Health Office (CHO) together with three private hospitals, OSPA-FMC, Ormoc Doctor’s Hospital and Clinica Gatchalian Hospital.
On March 22, 2020, Sunday, street cleaners of the City’s Environment and Natural Resources Department (ENRD), personnel of the LGU’s General Services Department (GSD) and Liga ng mga Barangay members joined forces to clean the said Isolation Facility that will accordingly have 10 rooms.
“Yes, ready na. In fact, mag-operate na on Monday (March 30). It’s already clean, na disinfect na ang mga rooms, so it’s ready na for test run,” confirmed Dr. Edmund Kierulf of CHO.
Accordingly, the said “test run” is set to happen on March 29, Sunday, with the participation of all the healthcare personnel running the Isolation Facility, as mentioned by the Ormoc City COVID-19 Task Force during their March 27 meeting.
As of this reporting, March 27, Friday, the city of Ormoc still has no test kits available; and that all ‘swab specimens’ collected will go to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City, as assigned by the country’s Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Meanwhile, LGU-Ormoc officials together with the CHO continue to encourage Ormocanons to strictly implement ‘social or physical distancing’, frequent handwashing and most importantly, to stay home and to go out only to purchase essentials such as food and medicines. By Mary Ann Reusora
