Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Department of Health has logged a spike in Dengue cases where most of the recent patients are from Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon and NCR, citing a 105% increase in numbers versus last year’s data.
DOH said the cumulative total Dengue cases have reached 145,341 by end-August 2022, a figure significantly higher from last year’s 52,697.
New casualties have also been reported by the health agency with 39, pushing this year’s total death toll up to 461.
DOH Officer-In-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said that all sectors must collaborate to fight the mosquito-borne disease.
Vergeire also bared that the agency has an ample fund set aside to combat the increasing Dengue cases in the country.
The official underscored that the education sector with the help of local government units and others must aid the DOH in preventing the disease. TNF
