Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it is ‘ready’ for the incoming nationwide blended learning & in-person classes next week, citing its plans to deploy 23,000 officers to ensure safety.
The agency said the deployed personnel will be strategically placed in schools and will put up assistance areas as the dreadful virus still lingers.
PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo told reporters, “We’ll be deploying more or less 23,000 plus PNP personnel nationwide, particularly in the premises of schools and established police assistance desks. Students and parents who have security concerns can easily seek the help of our police force.”
Since July this year, the PNP has already coordinated with related government offices and schools regarding the coming learning mode adjustment.
Apart from enforcing safety in schools, the PNP has also tackled terminals and transportation scenarios given the expected ‘high foot traffic.’
Fajardo added that to ensure safety from the virus, cops will also serve as COVID-19 patrollers to ensure prescribed protocols are in place at all times.
Vice President & Education Chief Sara Duterte-Carpio earlier said that the Department of Education will start the school year 2022-2023 on August 22 with blended distance learning and face-to-face classes up until October 31, while all private and public schools will adjust to 5 days of full in-person classes by November 2.
