Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Now that COVID-19 numbers nationwide have started to plateau, the Department of Health has warned to still follow health protocols & not to be ‘complacent.’
DOH OIC Maria Rosario Vergeire told reporters that the country’s COVID-19 cases have recently shown low figures, however, she attributed the results to the number of tests done in laboratories.
Vergeire said in an official statement, “Right now we see that our numbers have plateaued a bit, but like what we said in the past days, let us not be complacent maybe because this number may only affected by the numbers of samples tested for laboratories. Let’s see in the coming days if our cases continue to decrease.”
This week, the DOH has logged its lowest COVID-19 count in 3 weeks at 2,633 new positive infections nationwide; a figure significantly lower than the previous week.
Previously, the health department bared that the Omicron BA.5 strain is the dominant subvariant which may have triggered the recent surge in the country. TNF
