Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Presidential aspirant Senator Manny Pacquiao on Monday, November 8 said that the national government should remove the requirement of wearing face shields completely as it is an “added burden” for Filipinos.
Prior to his statement, the Senator has supported the government’s adjustment of quarantine levels for different areas in PH as this aids the economy to recover.
Pacquiao said in a statement, “Dapat wala na talaga yang face shield. Wala naman talagang batayan na nakakatulong talaga yan. Yung facemask ang i-require pero dapat yang face shield optional na lang. Yung face shield naging symbol lang ng corruption yan eh.”
The Senator added that the national government must permit all local government units to make decisions as to if their constituents should wear face shields or not.
Pacquiao pointed out that even with eased quarantine restrictions for the economy’s rebound, establishments permitted to operate in lowered quarantine level areas must still follow health protocols.
“The key in effectively fighting COVID is vaccination and contact tracing, not face shield,” Pacquiao added.
The Presidential aspirant also enforced his views that vaccination is important in the fight against COVID-19 and that the government must look into the advancements in oral treatment of COVID-19 in the antiviral pills produced by Merck and Pfizer. TNF
