Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – A number of congressmen in the House of Representatives have supported Manila Mayor and Presidential aspirant Isko Moreno Domagoso’s fuel tax cut proposal on Monday, November 8.
The Manila Mayor said his proposal is to slash fuel excise tax by 50% and to pursue the adjustment if elected President, for the benefit of the poor and the middle class as the crisis brought by the pandemic has been pushing oil prices up almost every week.
Domagoso said in a statement, “If we implement a tax cut on gasoline and petroleum products, we can expect more jeepneys plying their routes and they will earn more since there will be more commuters who are going to their places of work. When drivers earn more, they will have more buying power and this will further perk up the economy.”
