Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Hugpong ng Pagbabago party on Thursday, November 11, has confirmed that Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has resigned from their regional party.
Duterte’s resignation followed just days after her withdrawal from the Mayoral race in Davao City for the 2022 polls, sparking even more speculation on the substitution possibilities for national posts.
HNP Secretary General Anthony Del Rosario in a statement, “In her letter to the officers and members of HNP, she states that, ‘It is with profound sadness that I hereby tender my resignation from our beloved party. My support will always be with you and I will always be grateful for all the things you have taught me.”
Based on the Resolution of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), substitution of a candidate under the same party is still available until the 15th of November 2021.
The poll body also recently mentioned that the Davao City Mayor may only be allowed to substitute a candidate for a national post, provided that she joins a national political party. TNF
