Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar has recently resigned from his post and has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Wednesday, October 6, for a senate seat in the 2022 elections.
Villar was with his wife Diwa party-list Rep. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar when he quickly filed his COC at the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel hotel on Wednesday.
The former DPWH secretary is the first member of the Cabinet to resign before the coming elections.
Villar’s first public service duty was in congress back in 2010 in the district of Las Piñas City following his mother Cynthia Villar who later got a seat in the Senate.
The filing period for candidates in the 2022 polls are only up to Friday, October 8, and substitution is available until November 15, 2021. TNF
