Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Senator Manny Pacquiao on Friday morning, October 1, has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2022 polls at the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City.
Pacquiao is the first presidential bet to file for candidacy, and was accompanied by his running-mate and vice presidential bid Rep. Lito Atienza from the Buhay Party-list.
The Senator and boxing icon has vowed to work on ending corruption by sending guilty officials to jail, pandemic response, poverty alleviation, improve power supply and internet connectivity.
Pacquiao said in a statement, “Ang aking pagtakbo ay hindi lang para sa aking sarili, pamilya, kundi sa sambayanang Pilipino, para mabigyan ng magandang kinabukasan ang ating mga kababayan.”
The pair of Pacquiao and Atienza are under the PROMDI political party, which is in cahoots with PDP-Laban.
Previously, the Senator accepted the endorsement of being the standard bearer of an alliance within PDP-Laban along with Senator Koko Pimentel III.
The filing for the certificate of candidacy for national and elective positions is set from October 1 to 8, 2021, while substitution of candidates is permitted until November 15. TNF
