Officials said the satellite school conforms with post pandemic architecture.
COVID 19 has highlighted the need for healthy buildings like the one built inside DHVSU Apalit.
The opening of the face-to-face classes in this municipality was marked by the inauguration of this new academic building.
The opening of the new facility was led by DHVSU President Enrique Baking, Governor Dennis Pineda, Mayor Oscar “Jun” Tetangco Jr. and other local officials.
The 14-classroom two-storey building is surrounded with windows to ensure proper ventilation.
Good ventilation can help prevent students and teachers from getting and spreading COVID 19.
The new building stands inside the 1.2-hectare DHVSU campus which was donated by the Jen Tetangco, wife of Mayor Tetanco.
It is within the Apalit Health and Education Complex in Barangay Sampaloc.
Baking said the opening of the new building will be significant in improving the delivery of free quality tertiary education in the province.
“From the 1,500 current population this semester, we can possibly increase this to 5,000 in the coming year,” he said.
Baking said they are also looking into expanding the number of courses offered in the Apalit campus.
Courses that are currently offered in the campus include Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Restaurant Management, Bachelor of Elementary Education, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Pineda allocated some P25-million from the provincial government’s fund for the construction of the building.
Pineda said he supports the operations of DHVSU campuses including Apalit as it boosts the education program of the provincial government.
“Itong mga satellite campuses natin ay nilalagay natin sa mga strategic places katulad nitong sa Apalit. Hindi lang taga-Apalit ang nake-cater kundi pati taga-San Simon, Macabebe at Masantol,” he said.
Tetangco, for his part, assured the continuous support of the local government despite the passing of law converting DHVSU satellite campuses into regular state universities.
The mayor said they have already sourced funds for the ongoing construction of the Academic Building II and gymnasium.
“Tuluy-tuloy ang development natin dito sa DHVSU. Sa tulong nila Governor Delta at mga kaibigan natin, pinapalaki natin at inaayos pa natin ang DHVSU campus para mas maraming mapagtapos na mga estudyante,” Tetangco said.
