POLICE vowed to monitor the strict implementation of minimum public health standards, particularly the wearing of face mask, starting Friday, August 26, until Sunday, August 28, during the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy city director for administration, said they expect a number of people trooping to venues where the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo activities will be held.
The Pasigarbo sa Sugbo Festival Queen will be held on Friday, August 26, while the Festival of Festivals’ showdown will be on Sunday afternoon, August 28.
Parilla said those joining or witnessing the Pasigarbo activities need to observe the minimum health standards, as Cebu City has not yet lifted the order for the public to follow the guidelines, especially the wearing of face masks even in open and outdoor spaces.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia in June 2022 issued an executive order lifting the mandatory wearing of face masks in open and outdoor spaces, saying it was a “necessary step toward the new normal” in the province.
Parilla said the rule on wearing of face mask is still mandatory in Cebu City, thus those entering the Cebu City Sports Center to witness the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo on Sunday have to wear face mask.
“Usa na sa atong ipatuman nga ang tanang mosulod sa atoang venue aside sa mga dancers mag sul-ob gyud og face mask,” he said.
He added that they will also remind the public to observe social distancing to prevent possible transmission of the coronavirus. (AYB/LMY)
